Are you thinking of getting a nose job, a breast augmentation, or maybe a liposuction? One of the most important steps in accomplishing your goals of looking better and gaining some confidence is choosing the right plastic surgeon who can do the job well. There should be no other option but to have the best doctor that you can get for your plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure.

Here are some things to look out for when you are looking for the plastic surgeon to help with your needs:

Credentials
The most important thing you need to know is the credentials of your plastic surgeon. You need to know if he is board certified, if he underwent special trainings, and if he is a member of any professional organization. You will have a good idea that you are under good hands when you get to know your doctor more. A good education and a good training ensure you that he or she knows where to inject, cut, stitch and tuck. And that you will be part of the successful plastic surgery statistics and not the plastic surgery gone wrong horrendous picture gallery.

Consultation
Schedule a meeting with your surgeon. Ask all the questions that you have in mind so you get to know how your chosen doctor will address your needs. Get to know about his experiences for the specific procedure you want done. Be on the look out for doctor who do not answer your questions thoroughly or push for more procedures which you really do not need. You can also ask for the qualification of the medical team who will help your plastic surgeon during the procedure.

Specialties
Cosmetic surgeons often have specialties. Let us say you are going for a hand reconstruction, then it will be best to seek the help of a plastic surgeon with a specific specialize training for hand reconstruction. This way you are sure that the doctor has had more patients similar to your case and you will be guaranteed a more favorable outcome because of his training and experience.

Referrals
You can ask your family doctor, relatives, friends, or co-workers for a plastic surgeon which they have consulted and worked with before. A good review of his techniques and quality of care from people close to you is a good gauge that you can trust that plastic surgeon. You can also ask your plastic surgeon for references whom you can speak with regard to the doctor’s practice.

Malpractice Insurance
Knowing that your doctor has a malpractice insurance will give you peace of mind somehow in the event that something goes wrong during your plastic surgery procedure. Well that is the worst case scenario, of course. Beforehand, you can check with your local courthouse or a professional regulatory body if there are malpractice cases filed against your plastic surgeon. Your gut feel is also important if your doctor can do that tummy tuck, liposuction, facelift, or nose job you are looking forward to have.

“Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance” or VASER Liposuction involves the use of advanced surgical techniques to sculpt the body by getting rid of unwanted fatty deposits. It uses ultrasonic energy to break apart the fatty tissues and gently remove the fat from the body by means of a cannula. The ultrasonic energy is transmitted through small grooved probes that are inserted into the body by means of tiny incisions. The VASER lipo process enables the plastic surgeons to achieve predictable outcomes. The saline solution that is injected into the targeted area helps in shrinking blood vessels and ensures minimal blood loss and bruising.

Before availing this method, clients should opt for a consultation with the surgeons that are provided for free by the best body clinics. Since, cosmetic surgery is considered to be a big deal by many; clients are free to ask any doubt or concerns that are bothering them.

The most probable questions are listed below with suggestions that you can expect as answers:

[1] The first question that comes into the mind of all clients is “Whether I am a good candidate for VASER Lipo procedure?”

Generally, doctors answer this question only after assessing the medical situation and body type of the candidate.

[2] Where the VASER Lipo procedure will be performed?

Usually, the procedure is performed in a hospital, surgery center or body clinic of a physician.

[3] How much fat can be removed from my body and can multiple areas be treated at once?

Though the required amount of fat to be removed from the body is as per the decision of the cosmetic surgeon, multiple areas can usually be treated at a single liposuction procedure.

[4] How long is the healing process?

Normally, the healing process involves minimal pain and is dependant on two factors, the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed. Clients can get back to normal activity within two weeks but need to keep their dressings for six weeks. To fasten the process of recovery, doctors usually provide compression garments and restrict them from doing any sort of strenuous activity.

[5] When and what kind of results will I have?

Results are usually visible after the swelling has completely subsided, which takes around 1 to 3 months. For complete results, a great change in body contour and skin is observed within six months. The best way is to have realistic expectations. Since this is not a weight loss procedure and only aims at a slimmer silhouette, clients usually have a chiseled look. Clients generally experience a tighter and smoother skin after this kind of Liposuction.

[6] What are the common side effects?

Usually, the doctors consider bruising, swelling and some drainage of fat to be the common side effects of VASER Liposuction.

[7] Whether the results are permanent or will I gain weight afterwards?

Normally in this process, a number of fat cells are kept in the body for sake of health. Therefore, a healthy exercise and diet regimen needs to be maintained to ensure that clients do not gain weight and the results are retained for a lifetime.

[8] How much is the VASER liposuction procedure cost?

Generally, the cost of the procedure is dependant on certain factors such as the reputation of the physician, type of anesthesia used, number of body areas treated and charges levied by the clinic.

[9] What is the board qualification, training and experience of the doctor who will be performing my VASER Liposuction?

Doctors usually answer these questions honestly and after judging all the aspects, clients can opt for the procedure.

[10] Many clients are curious about the claim of the procedure and ask “Whether I can see the before and after photos of those clients on whom you have performed this procedure and also whether I can talk to them?”

Generally, doctors keep an account of the previous surgeries so can provide clients with the pictures and can also provide them with the phone numbers of the treated clients.

Only after all your questions have been answered and you are fully convinced about the procedure and doctors, you can go ahead and opt for the VASER Liposuction procedure, to discover a new you.

As society becomes more image-centered, the quest for the ‘perfect breasts’ seems to be a major focus of fascination. Whilst each woman has an individual preference in terms of breast sizes and shapes, there is however no uniform agreement on what constitutes ‘aesthetically perfect breasts’. However, there are many good reasons for wanting breast augmentation surgery.

Breast Augmentation surgery, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure -

o To enhance the fullness of a woman’s breast
o To improve the symmetry of the breasts
o To restore breast volume lost following pregnancy or weight loss
o To increase confidence and self-esteem
o To restore the originality of the sagging breasts
o To create a natural-appearing and attractive breast

Satisfying results can make you feel more feminine and therefore more confident and content.

Breast Augmentation Surgery – The Specifics

The procedure is conducted by inserting an implant behind each breast. The implants are made of medical grade, biocompatible, textured or smooth silicone shells filled with sterile saline solution or silicone gel. The result is the surgeon’s ability to increase a woman’s bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. The procedure is highly personalized and should be considered for your own personal reasons, not with the ambition of others.

Preparing for Breast Augmentation Surgery

During your consultation your surgeon will help you choose which type of surgery and which type of implant suits you. Prior to you surgery you will meet with your surgeon to discuss any questions you may have. When you and your surgeon have the same expectations before surgery it makes the process less nerve-racking, and helps the surgeon know exactly what you are wanting out of the procedure.

Quality care with expert surgeon

In considering breast augmentation surgery, it is essential to do your research and find the best surgeon. It is important to choose an experienced surgeon who will not only consider your personal desires, but also take into account your height, weight and natural breast size and shape.

Some myths surrounding the procedure

Perhaps no form of surgery is more popular and safer than breast augmentation surgery. Thanks to a major change in the kind of implants and techniques that are now employed. But, there are myths and misconceptions that a patient must be fully aware of before making an informed decision.

Let’s take a look at a handful of myths about breast augmentation surgery -

o Silicone implants are not safe
o Breast implants feel unnaturally hard
o Implants can cause breast cancer and other diseases
o Breast Augmentation is a painful surgery that requires a lot of time off work and performing physical activities
o Breast Augmentation scars are obvious
o Everyone can tell when a woman has breast implants
o Implants make the breasts sag earlier
o Breast implants need to be replaced regularly

Taking time to think over the procedure, working with your breast augmentation surgeon and researching is crucial to separate facts from the myths. Who knows, breast augmentation surgery can turn out to be an opportunity to help you reconstruct the beauty that’s already there in you?

‘Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance’ or VASER Liposuction is an advanced body sculpting process that involves removal of unwanted and stubborn fat deposits from your body. The process of targeting specific fatty areas throughout the body is known as Liposelection. It uses a minimally invasive technique to gently break apart and remove unwanted fat. This is done by means of advanced ultrasonic energy. The procedure is gentle enough to treat delicate body areas and at the same time, is powerful enough to spot large fatty areas.

VASER Lipo can be used on body areas such as chin, face, neck, arms, back, chest, hips, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, calves, knees and other areas. It enables the removal of large volumes of fat within a short period of time. Therefore, it is suitable for both larger and smaller body areas.

In 2001, this innovative technique received the approval of FDA as a Body Contouring Process. Since then, it has been widely used by several cosmetic and plastic surgeons throughout the world. In comparison to traditional method of Liposuction, VASER Lipo is a safer option. Unlike Traditional Liposuction, VASER Lipo involves removal of more fat, quicker recovery, less bruising and better skin tightening.

Usually, VASER Lipo is performed in a sterile or clean environment such as a hospital, body clinic or outdoor surgery center. As per your convenience, doctors can prescribe whether to opt for IV sedation, local anesthesia or general anesthesia.

The Process

The tissue-selective procedure involves various steps. Firstly, the targeted fatty area is injected with a ‘tumescent fluid’, which is a special saline solution. The fluid is capable of shrinking the local blood vessels and numbing the area. It is capable of expanding the targeted area’s volume for a temporary period, making the removal of the fat cells easier and ensuring lower risk of blood loss and bruising. Then, small incisions are made into the body in between the layer of muscle and skin, through which small diameter probes are inserted. The high frequency ultrasound waves transmitted through the probes helps in loosening the fat cells while keeping the connective tissues, nerves and blood vessels undisturbed. The loose fat cells get mixed with the tumescent fluid and are gently removed from the body by means of special suction tubes or cannula. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the VASER Lipo procedure takes around one hour to several hours.

Recovery and Effect

After the surgical procedure, a recovery regimen is prescribed to the patients to encourage smooth results and maximum skin retraction. A tight bandage or special compression garment is provided to enhance the contouring effects and promote healing process. Usually, a 12 hours rest is advised and there are restrictions regarding performance of any kind of strenuous activity for a period of two to three weeks. For speedy recovery and enhanced results, massage therapy are also recommended by some physicians.

Though you can observe a change instantly after the VASER Lipo procedure, the result is likely to improve with time and healing of the treatment area. A period of about three to four months is required to observe the final results of the procedure. It will provide a natural-looking result and make the muscles appear more defined.

Requirement of a Consultation

Before availing this method, you are advised to visit a doctor and talk about the pros and cons of VASER Liposuction. The doctor will assess your body and then decide how much fat is required to be taken out. The best thing about this process is multiple areas can be treated at one time.

You should not consider VASER Lipo to be equivalent to a weight loss process. This process only aims at providing a slimmer silhouette. With maintaining a sensible lifestyle and diet, the results can be maintained for a long time. So, those wanting to shed those extra fat deposits should avail the option of VASER Liposuction without any delay.

Non-invasive laser liposuction is quickly becoming an increasingly popular alternative to traditional surgical liposuction techniques that have been used for decades. Apart from less bruising at areas where the procedure is performed as well as a shorter recovery time for patients, recent research has also indicated that non-invasive liposuction using a laser may also help tighten the skin, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing result. And improvement can be seen in as little as seven days compared with regular liposuction which may take two to four weeks before the results become noticeable. But this type of liposuction is not appropriate for typical liposuction candidates, such as the obese, since it is mainly intended to remove a few ounces of fat from certain areas for body contouring and reshaping.

There are two ways that non-invasive fat reduction assisted by lasers works:

1. The cannula, the narrow tube that is used to suction the fat out of the body, is combined with a fiber optic cable that delivers the laser light to the target area to melt the fat and then suck it out effortlessly and with little or without damage.

2. The laser is used first to melt the fat in a particular area and then the cannula is used to quickly vacuum out the fat, resulting in a much-shorter procedure.

In addition, lasers can be used to complement conventional liposuction techniques by tightening and toning skin in the area where the fat has been suctioned out. This also improves cellulite appearance. However, adding the laser to the procedure increases the lost of liposuction.

Who are best suited for non-invasive laser lipo procedures?

* Those who are no more than twenty percent overweight. Otherwise, the effect form laser liposuction will not be as prominent as the patient desires. It is important to remember that laser liposuction is not a weight loss but a body sculpturing method.
* Those who have stubborn pockets of fat in certain areas that is not responsive to exercise and diet. For example, fat tends to accumulate in chin area even in on the overall slim people.
* Those who merely want to tighten the skin in particular areas such as the jawline, the waist or around the arms.
* Those who are in good health and have good muscle tone.

Liposuction procedures using non-invasive laser-aided techniques will be more effective if the patient augments it by adopting a healthy, low-fat diet and a regular exercise program.

Liposuction may be the quickest way to lose weight for any big event! Although liposuction is considered to be a cosmetic procedure, it is still considered a form of surgery, and therefore, it is a decision that should not be made lightly. Liposuction is an effective treatment for areas of fat that diet and exercise alone cannot help. There are both pros and cons to this cosmetic procedure. First and foremost, it should be made clear that liposuction is not quick fix for weight loss. After the procedure has been performed, the patient will need to exercise regularly and follow a sensible diet in order to prevent the fat from reappearing.

The primary advantage to having liposuction performed is that the results it produces are both dramatic and instantaneous. Most patients who undergo this procedure are able to return to work and their daily schedules within 1-2 weeks of the procedure date. Furthermore, the method in which the fat cells are removed from the body allow the doctor performing the procedure to contour the different curves of the patient’s body. Because the fat cells in the problematic regions of one’s body have been permanently removed, they will not return if the patient follows the prescribed regimen of diet and exercise.

There are also numerous disadvantages associated with having the liposuction procedure performed. For example, because it is considered cosmetic, most insurance companies will not pay for it, which means that an individual must pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. There is also an extensive list of surgical complications that can wrong during the procedure, including anesthesia risks and complications. Although most of these side effects are rare, the possibility of encountering them is still present. Some patients do suffer from excessive bleeding during and after the procedure because of drug interactions, and the more serious side effects include the formation of blood clots and injuries to the organs in the abdomen.

Before an individual chooses to have liposuction performed, they should examine themselves and ask themselves why they want to have the procedure performed. Their doctor may have them visit a psychiatrist to ensure that they are in the right frame of mind to elect to have the surgery. Additionally, their doctor is likely to discuss the pros and cons of liposuction in depth with them more than once. This is not done to discourage their business, but to ensure the patient’s safety and to minimize the risk that they will fall back into old habits that led to the initial weight gain. You want to lose weight but take the time to find the best method for you.

Breast augmentation surgery (augmentation mammaplasty) is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery treatments worldwide. Many women have undergone this surgery with positive results, experiencing both an improved physical appearance and a boost of self-confidence. However, while it might appear that bustline enhancement is a solution to a host of aesthetic and psychological issues, it is not a panacea. The procedure has been linked to numerous complications and side effects and therefore should be considered very carefully. Read on to learn about the top three reasons why you might want to forego breast enlargement surgery.

1. Dissatisfaction with the Results

A major risk of breast augmentation is that you will not achieve the look you had envisioned. After the surgery, many women discover that their new bustline is too large, still too small or uneven in appearance. In addition, their shape might appear extremely unnatural, especially if you opt for the rounded type of prostheses, which are very full on top (natural breasts are fuller at the bottom with no rounding at the top). Another aesthetic problem is the visibility of prostheses through the skin. This is especially common with saline-filled implants, which might be visible from the side or even from the front if the woman is very thin.

When considering the pros and cons of this surgery, you should also think about how you will look 10, 20 and 30 years from now. Over time, your bustline will change in appearance while the implants will retain their shape. This might make your bust look fake. In addition, the devices might harden over time as scar tissue develops around them. This might also make your chest look extremely unnatural and feel unpleasant to the touch.

2. Infection, Bleeding and Revision Surgery

Just like any other surgery, augmentation mammoplasty entails the risks of infection, bleeding and the need for a revision surgery. While many infections can be resolved with antibiotics, sometimes the infection gets out of control, requiring the removal of the prostheses altogether. Bleeding during or after the surgery is an especially troubling complication, as it might cause death or long-term side effects. Finally, you might require a revision surgery with another surgeon if your original surgery results in a lopsided, unnatural or simply unflattering look. The additional surgery will mean additional anesthesia, recovery time, and breast implants cost. In addition, the secondary surgery is no guarantee that you will achieve your desired appearance.

3. Psychological Discomfort

While many women pursue augmentation mammaplasty to feel better about themselves, they sometimes feel even worse after the surgery. This might be due to the unwelcome attention they receive because of their large bust, unkind comments from men who dislike their unnatural appearance, or an overall feeling of “being fake.” This is why you should not let yourself to be deceived by happy-looking patients in your surgeon’s breast augmentation before and after photos. Instead, talk with some of these patients and ask how they feel a year or two after their procedure. You might also want to discuss your desire to get saline or silicone breast implants with a trusted psychologist. He or she will help you ensure that you undergo plastic surgery for the right reasons, and not simply because you are depressed and hope that this procedure will get you out of your funk.

When I got my ABPS Board Certification, I wanted to walk around with it taped to my forehead. It’s that hard to get. So, why does that matter to you?

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the only accredited board for plastic surgery in the United States.

One of your early and most important decisions about having plastic surgery is the obvious: Who is going to do your surgery? Who is it that, above all others, you trust enough to understand your goals, listen to your fears, perform the procedures competently with the best results possible, and stick with you through thick and thin during your recovery period, no matter what?

Ever thought of it this way? You should.

With the popularity of plastic surgery, there recently has been an increase in untrained physicians performing plastic surgical procedures. Interestingly, it is not illegal for a licensed physician to perform any procedure, regardless of whether they were properly trained. The media has featured surgeons performing plastic surgical procedures on various TV shows as presumed experts, without verifying credentials, contributing to mass confusion, and putting patients at increased risk of dangerous situations they may never be aware of.

We are learning to ask if a plastic surgeon is “board certified,” but even that can be confusing because one could answer “yes” if they are certified by another specialty board or a non-accredited board. There are a number of “boards” out there which are not accredited, some of which have very impressive and important sounding names which easily fool the patient into thinking that certain training and qualifications are present when in fact they are not. And, by the way, there is no such thing as the “Oprah Board.”

All accredited medical boards are listed on the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) website (abms.org). You can check there for any specialty to see if your doctor’s Board is accredited. And, by the way, did I mention -

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (abplsurg.org) is the only accredited board for plastic surgery in the United States.

There really are such things as “weekend courses” or other reduced training programs that award a “board” of some type. In the medical community, we sometimes joke about these “smorgasboards.” The training required, or lack thereof, can be a mystery. Fortunately, this is easily sorted out– If they do not measure up to the American Board of Medical Specialties rigorous standards, they are not accredited and are not listed on their site as an accredited board.

Surgeons certified by the ABPS are also members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) – famous for the “circle logo” (plasticsurgery.org).

So the question is not “Are you board certified?”

The question is “What Board?”

Hint: You should be able to find your surgeon by name on both the ABPS and the ASPS sites.

When you visit my office, if I forgot to tape my certificate to my forehead that morning you can ask me about my boards– I will be very impressed. Of COURSE then, like a kid with a great report card, I will then want to show you all the certificates, talk about the many years of training that went into achieving this milestone, how I traded my youth for it (ok, a little dramatic), etc. So be prepared!

Taking in an increasingly large amount of food during, in between, and after meals can really cause harm to your health; you can end up diagnosed with various health problems like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. These may diseases may sound harmless but if you dissect the information regarding these problems you will understand that these diseases can actually cause death if uncontrolled or unmanaged over time. Because of this worldwide phenomenon many medical and diagnostic procedures are now being promoted and recognized by medical practitioners all over the globe. Among the most popular trend in losing body fat is undergoing a cosmetic procedure called liposuction.

Liposuction is actually a very simple procedure which makes use of certain surgical preparations. The surgery involves the removal of excess fats in the body which are situated between the skin and muscle fibers. In this procedure, a stainless steel cannula or tube is inserted on the earlier stated areas while a very powerful suction pump vacuums the fat out of the body. This method is performed on all areas where there is excessive fat build up. The common areas which undergo liposuction include the abdomen, arms, buttocks, anterior, inner, and outer thighs, as well as the face and neck.

There are various kinds of liposuction which is based on the amount of anesthesia which is introduced in the body during the whole procedure. The first type is the Tumescent Liposuction which makes use of very large amount of local anesthesia which is diluted and injection in the areas where the procedure will take place; once it has been injected you will notice that the area become firm and swollen. With this kind, you will not need the aid of anti-pain medications because the effect of local anesthesia can last for several hours. The second type is the Modified Tumescent Liposuction which involves the use of both local and systemic anesthesia; but this type is usually given by an anesthesiologist because of the danger that it poses.

Before undergoing liposuction, you should be aware that you are supposed to undergo a number of medical and physical check-ups because this is a major operation that involves a great amount of preparation. Also take note that the price of the procedure is quite costly, but this does not mean that you should settle for the least expensive ones; the point is you should do your research on the available doctors who perform the procedure in your area and their capability of providing you with the best service there is. In addition, there are many people see this as a procedure that is unnecessary, but you might change your point of view when you dig deeper and understand that the surgery is about helping people go back to their normal condition wherein the risks of acquiring unwanted health conditions are decreased from one to none.
